It’s no secret I’ve always wanted to write a book. Every time I’ve sat down to “start writing a book” I’ve come up with nothing! I have so many ideas and yet … nothing! I couldn’t understand why. Where was I going wrong? What was I doing wrong? Wait … is this writer’s block? Ha ha …  I’d need to be a writer first.

So I thought I better look into what makes a writer and how to actually write a  book. I attended a webinar and got some really good ideas. And for now it seems to have helped. I’m on a journey! Another one … a writing journey.

So my book is going to be about my Mum. The webinar suggested I write about what I know most about, something I’m passionate about and something that would make me happy … my Mum … Lynn.

This book may not be a best seller. This book may not be of any interest to anyone other than me, my sister, my brother, our children. There will be those that flick through the pages to see if they get a mention. Some people may be disappointed, some might be surprised and some might be downright embarrassed. As they should be. Because if you know us, my Mum, her stories … we led a very colourful life. Especially Mum.

So my first book will about Mum. I’ve collected photos – scanning, sorting, dating. A lot of cropping. This will be great for the book though. I’ve been asking Mum a lot of questions. I’ve written things down on bits of paper, saved things in my phone, started a huge notepad full of info (as will be attached to the end of this blog). I feel like I’m completely on a journey. But I’m also worried … there are skeletons in closets. Things that don’t need to be aired … yet. I may end up hurting people and that is definitely not my intention.

I’ve decided to finish this blog, 8 years later.

I really want to write that book, I do. Whether it’s about Mum though, I’m just not sure now. A lot has happened. I started this original post on October 24 2018 at 11.37pm. I was excited about my journey. I am still excited about my literary journey but I have changed, things are different. I have grown. I have so much to talk about. To share. So many years to catch up on.

Mum’s story will get told. When my heart is ready.
